Fast Fingers – A Fingerboard Tradition Since 1999

Fast Fingers was founded in 1999. The very first fingerboard contest took place at the Blackriver Skateshop – featuring a proper fingerboard park and a panel of judges. The event was inspired by the many skateboard contests happening at the time.

Over the following 20 years, Fast Fingers grew steadily. People from all over the world made their way to the small town of Schwarzenbach an der Saale to take part in this magical event. Pros, young talents, and passionate fingerboarders came together to share their love for fingerboarding and take on the challenge of the competition.

In 2008, Fast Fingers was held as the Fingerboard World Championship for the first time – a milestone that boosted the event’s international popularity. In 2019, more than 800 visitors from 22 different countries made their way to Upper Franconia.

In 2022, Fast Fingers went online for the first time. Taking the event digital allowed fingerboarders from around the world to participate – in a completely new format featuring video submissions, community events, and a professional live-stream finale.

In 2024, we returned to the physical world with Fast Fingers 21 – and celebrated an unforgettable birthday together in Schwarzenbach an der Saale. The event was a huge success and once again proved how powerful our community can be when we all come together in one place.

From now on: Live & Online – in alternating years.

Fast Fingers will take place every two years – with the physical World Championship in Schwarzenbach an der Saale in even-numbered years, and Fast Fingers Online in the years in between. This way, we can reach more people, explore new formats, and still honor the roots of our scene.

Fast Fingers is always Blackriver’s biggest project of the year and takes a lot of work and passion to make it happen. None of this would be possible without your continued support. Thank you to everyone who helps keep the ship on course – online and offline.
